Not all mailing companies understand (or are interested) in how direct response mailing campaigns work. I've worked with other organisations in the past who are happy to take the work - and make the charges - but do not give any pertinent advice on how to save on mailing costs and don't seem able to talk knowledgeably about how to increase the effectiveness of a mailing.

So, for me, it was great finding Phil and his company. I can talk sensibly to him about a client's mailing; he helps me get the best results with his insider tips and offers the best deal for my clients (and that makes me look good in their eyes!) 

Plus he actually understands the power of direct response marketing and copywriting.  That's why his clients (who don't use professional copywriting services like mine) gain an advantage over their competitors when they take his advice on board!
